The History of Reel Passion
Reel Passion was launched in January
1998 and is of the latest design and has all the very latest electronic
aid's including underwater video-cam and 1200 metre sonar, plus surveyed
for up to 8 anglers on extended charters to the Three Kings Islands
and other isolated coastal waters.
Reel Passion distinguished itself
by winning 4 straight tournaments in it’s first season, as well as
catching a new NZ record Blue marlin (Grander) of 456.8kg,
(during the Houhora one base Tournament in March) . Seven striped
Marlin in one day, a Broadbill, two blue Marlin on the same day, and
34 marlin in 40 fishing days are some of the achievements , the envy
of many.
The previous owners took Reel Passion
to Samoa via Tonga during our winter of 98 proving the ocean going
capabilities and flexibility of the vessel; plus winning the Samoan
International Tournament and recording the most gamefish caught in
Samoan waters.
We have been able to assist over
70% of our anglers with their first ever Marlin catch, some after
countless attempts over many years fishing from various boats around
the world. Others like 82 year old Lyal Munro and 9 year old Kane
Byles at their very first attempt.
During the winter months we will
offer dive and bottom fishing combo's anywhere along the east coast,
broadbill,
targeting tuna, kingfish, hapuku, and snapper. With the compressor
on board we can offer specialist dive trips being surveyed for up
to 30 people inshore.
We will continue to offer the very best of professional
service and comfort, and build on our reputation as being one of the
most modern, relaxed and successful charter boat launched to date.
